We always discover sparkling wines by István Bencz by chance during his visit to Lake Balaton, even so! This is another vintage of excellent bubbles made using the classic Champagne method. The basis is the grapes of the Pinot Noir variety grown biodynamically at the foot of the hill of volcanic origin called Szent György-hegy, where István's winery is also located. Directly pressed and early harvested Pinot underwent primary spontaneous fermentation as blanc de noir, matured in stainless steel tank and then secondary fermentation in bottle, blasting took place in early 2023. The color is golden-pink, the taste is structured and delicate with notes of red flowers, rosehip tea or citrus, while it does not lack a light yeasty wildness and bitterness in the aftertaste. We generally enjoy sparkling wines from natural winemakers (see Punkista or Krásná hora) and Gemini Rosé only confirms this.

Near Lake Balaton around Szent György-hegy you will find the Hungarian legendary biodynamic winery, which was founded in 2011 by István Bencze. It manages about 20 hectares of old and newly planted vineyards organically, emphasizing both the local typical varieties (Furmint, Hárslevelű or Kéknyelű) and the newly bred varieties with which it likes to experiment. In terms of processing, its wines are not clarified, filtered or sulfurized. Most of the wines underwent at least a short maceration on the skins and matured in various clay amphorae.

He is a winemaker who enjoys a huge response in the world, so we are very happy to be able to introduce and offer him here. And no wonder! His wines are among those that no lover of natural wines should miss, not to mention the design of his labels, which are a work of art in itself.
