Bencze - Pétillant Rosé 2022

What does it look like when a legend like Bencze decides to make pink bubbles? As always - absolutely great! Even for this pét-nat, he used only his own grapes from the biodynamic vineyards of the Cabernet Sauvignon, Chenin Blanc, Blauburger and Zervin varieties, which can be found northwest of Lake Balaton. The red grapes were first macerated together for 7 days, after which they were gently pressed on the 8th day, the Chenin was pressed directly after picking and everything then fermented together in a stainless steel tank. At the end of fermentation with 16g of residual sugar, the wine was bottled "alive" under a crown cap, where it fermented to dryness. At the beginning of 2023, the lees were decanted, which supported the wine's sparkle and lightness. In the Taste, it has a rich juicy pearl, an aroma full of red flowers (hibiscus, rose), a subtle saltiness and a currant fruity character.

Near Lake Balaton around Szent György-hegy you will find the Hungarian legendary biodynamic winery, which was founded in 2011 by István Bencze. It manages about 20 hectares of old and newly planted vineyards organically, emphasizing both the local typical varieties (Furmint, Hárslevelű or Kéknyelű) and the newly bred varieties with which it likes to experiment. In terms of processing, its wines are not clarified, filtered or sulfurized. Most of the wines underwent at least a short maceration on the skins and matured in various clay amphorae.

He is a winemaker who enjoys a huge response in the world, so we are very happy to be able to introduce and offer him here. And no wonder! His wines are among those that no lover of natural wines should miss, not to mention the design of his labels, which are a work of art in itself.
